In a major development, Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has made the decision to slash the prices of petroleum products, which will come into effect starting from midnight on Monday.
The corporation has taken the initiative to reduce the prices of petrol, diesel, and kerosene by an impressive Rs 5 per litre in key cities such as Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal. Furthermore, in the Terai region, the cost of petroleum products has been significantly reduced by Rs 7.5 per litre, while in Surkhet and Dang, fuel prices have seen a reduction of Rs 6 per litre.
The decision to lower the prices was made during a board meeting held by the NOC on Monday evening. The spokesperson for the corporation, Manoj Thakur, confirmed the price reduction and mentioned that a scientific system was employed to determine the new prices.
To facilitate the implementation of the new pricing structure, the NOC has categorized different regions. The Terai region, consisting of Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Birgunj, Amlekhgunj, Bhalwari, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi, falls under the first category. Surkhet and Dang have been designated as part of the second category. Lastly, Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal belong to the third category.
Following the adjustment, the revised prices for petrol in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal will be Rs 170 per litre, while diesel and kerosene will be priced at Rs 150 per litre.
In the Terai region, consumers can expect to pay Rs 167.5 per litre for petrol, and Rs 147.5 per litre for diesel and kerosene. Similarly, in Surkhet and Dang, the revised prices for petrol will be Rs 169 per litre, with diesel and kerosene priced at Rs 149 per litre.
On a separate note, the NOC has decided to maintain the current price of liquefied petroleum (LP) gas for cooking, ensuring there is no change in its price.
Additionally, the state-owned oil monopoly has made a remarkable move by reducing the price of aviation fuel. The domestic aviation fuel will witness a reduction of Rs 14 per litre, while the price of international aviation fuel will be slashed by Rs 15 per litre.
These bold measures taken by the Nepal Oil Corporation will certainly provide much-needed relief to the general public and various industries that heavily rely on petroleum products. The corporation’s commitment to delivering affordable fuel will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the nation’s economy and its people.
