With a budget of $1500, most gamers should be able to put together a complete setup that’s as powerful as it is versatile. In this price range, it is now possible to build a PC cut out for gaming and particularly demanding office tasks, such as video editing or photo editing.

The configuration we offer adapts to all current games, to enjoy its titles in optimal conditions, in 1080p at 200 FPS, in 1440p at more than 100 FPS or in 4K. Players also wishing to move towards streaming can easily broadcast their games on Twitch or YouTube without necessarily investing in a second configuration dedicated to encoding.

Among the main components of our gaming PC for less than 1500€, we will note the presence of an  Intel Core i5-12400F processor or a  Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card.

PC Gamer 1500€ The complete configuration

Gaming PC performance 1500€

This PC Gamer configuration for less than 1500€ allows you to play in excellent conditions in 1440p, but can also adapt to a lower resolution if you have a 240 Hz screen for example. On the contrary, if you favour display quality, the GeForce RTX 3070 can also get by on 4K gaming.

On our side, we recommend this type of configuration for games in 2560 x 1440 px Ultra. Under these conditions, you will be able to enjoy the most demanding titles without making any concessions in terms of fluidity or graphic details.

Most current titles run between 60 and 120 FPS depending on different graphics engines and optimizations. To get a better idea, you can find some examples of gameplay with benchmarks in the video below:

PC Gamer 1500€ – Details of components

Processor – Intel Core i5-12400F

For this PC Gamer configuration at 1500€, two choices are available to us on the processor side: the recent Intel Core i5-12400F  or the “aging” AMD Ryzen 5 5600X .

Here we have chosen to opt for the Intel model, which is more affordable than that of AMD and offers very similar performance, both in terms of application tasks and for gaming.

Here we favor the most recent CPU, which has the advantage of being based on the new LGA1700 socket, leaving us more room for development. Conversely, AMD’s AM4 socket is now at the end of its life and it will not be possible to install the brand’s future processors there.

Under the 200€ mark, the 12400F does remarkably well with its 6-Core / 12-Thread design and its Turbo frequency of up to 4.4 Ghz. When gaming at 1440p, the differences with a 5600X offered nearly €40 more expensive are minimal.

Motherboard

MSI PRO B660M-A Wi-Fi

Displayed at around 170€, the MSI PRO B660M-A adapts perfectly to our configuration of the day and has all the connections necessary to install our components but also the future evolutions of our machine.

Despite its compact format in mATX, it has 4 DDR4 slots, 2 M.2 ports in PCIe 4.0, 4 SATA ports or an internal USB-C header. On the rear connector side, there are 6 USB ports to connect its various peripherals and other external storage. It also has the advantage of carrying a WiFi 6 and Bluetooth chip for your wireless connections.

Nothing exceptional in itself, but if we choose this model from MSI, it is above all for its excellent performance. Among the many models of B660 motherboards at less than 200€, it is the one that does best in terms of VRM. Enough to upgrade its configuration to an i7 or an i9 without having to go back to the checkout.

Graphic card

GeForce RTX 3070

For the graphics card, stocks and prices seem to be slowly returning to normal for the past few weeks. A good thing for us!

By allocating a budget of around €700 to our GPU, we can thus move towards the very good GeForce RTX 3070. We obviously remain above its base price, but at the present time difficult to find better at this rate.

The card allows you to play all current games in very good conditions at 1440p, but also adapts to 4K games by making some concessions in terms of graphics settings. For those who, on the contrary, are aiming for  high framerates on competitive games in Full HD, the 3070 will also meet their expectations.

It also allows you to take advantage of the features of DLSS 2.0 or the very good NVENC encoder for streaming.

Memory

Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro – 2×8 GB 3600 Mhz

For RAM, we are starting here with a 2 x 8 GB DDR4 kit. Mounted in dual-channel , these two strips allow us to take advantage of an always reactive system while gaining efficiency during  multi-tasking .

If in itself most games do not necessarily need more than 8 GB of  RAM  to express themselves perfectly, moving towards a 16 GB kit is quickly necessary if you do not necessarily want to close your other applications. while you play. This is particularly useful when you want to keep a few  Chrome tabs, its various Discord channels   or even its music player.

Faced with the previous configuration, however, we switch to a 3600 Mhz kit with these Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro . Enough to grab a few more FPS during gaming.

Storage

Samsung 980 – 1TB

Rather than loading our configuration with multiple storage spaces, here we choose to opt for a single 1 TB M.2 NVMe SSD . This should logically be enough for most players, but obviously adapt accordingly. of your needs.

No PCIe 4.0 model for this configuration, but still one of the fastest PCIe 3.0 models in the industry: the Samsung 980 .

At around 100€, it is capable of reaching 3500 MB/s in reading and 3000 MB/s in writing. What to enjoy a perfectly responsive machine, fast installations and reduced loading times on your games.

Cooling

Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240 RGB

For cooling, we opt here for AIO watercooling with the excellent Arctic Liquid Freezer II RGB in 240 mm . Renowned for its performance and silent use, it stands out from the competition with a particularly affordable price but also with the addition of a small fan dedicated to the VRMs.

At less than 90€, it’s hard to find a better quality/price ratio, even if the set remains necessarily a little less flashy than models from Corsair or with LCD screens from NZXT.

If you want to save a few tens of euros, you can opt for a cooler rather than a watercooling. We recommend the Noctua NH-U12S Chromax Black for example.

Feed

Corsair RM750

For power, a 750W model is sufficient to manage the components of this configuration.

We start here on a fully modular and certified 80 PLUS Gold model, with a Corsair RM750 block . Efficient and silent, this power supply adapts perfectly to this Gamer PC costing less than 1500€ and has all the connections necessary to upgrade your machine.

Count between 90 and 100€ depending on availability.

Housing

Phanteks Eclipse P360A

As with most PC Gamer configurations , the choice of case will mainly be based on your preferences.

We are starting here with a recent Phanteks Eclipse P360A  to fit into our budget, while ensuring that the rest of the components are obviously compatible.

If you opt for another model, remember to check the options offered for mounting your water cooling, the spaces available for storage if you install additional SSDs or the connectors at the front panel.

To make your choice, you can use our comparison of the best PC cases .

Upgrade your configuration

The closer you get to the top of the range, the more the possibilities for development are obviously restricted.

With a gaming PC under the 1500€ mark, we still have a certain margin to improve its configuration, both for  gaming  and other demanding tasks.

An even more powerful processor

If the Intel Core i5-12400F is already a beautiful beast, it is not yet the brand’s top of the range!

To go further, you can go for a Core i5-12600K around 300€. With its design combining 6 P-Cores and 4 E-Cores for a total of 20 Threads, it is more versatile than the 12400F or the Ryzen 5 5600X and above all benefits from a Turbo frequency that can increase up to 4.9 GHz.

A better graphics card

If the GeForce RTX 3070 offers excellent value for money for playing at 1440p, it can show its limits on the most demanding games.

To be even more comfortable, you can opt for its big sister the RTX 6800 XT which will allow you to play in 4K in excellent conditions.

For players with an even larger budget, we will go for a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti or a Radeon RX 6900 XT. Of course, it remains to find models at consistent prices.
