With a budget of €800, you can now assemble a PC Gamer capable of running all current games in good conditions. For 1080p at more than 200 FPS on competitive games and 60 FPS on the most demanding games.
Today’s configuration revolves around an excellent Intel Core i3-12100F and an RX 6500 XT (or a used GTX 1660 Super) . There is also 16 GB of DDR4 at 3200 Mhz or a 500 GB NVMe SSD to ensure our machine is perfectly responsive.
As with all the configurations we offer, the components are regularly updated according to availability, price changes and new releases.
Best Gaming PC Build Under 800
Intel Core i3-12100F Processor
With a budget of €800, we have more room for maneuver for our processor and we therefore replace the i3-10100F with a recent Intel Core i3-12100F .
Available around 120€, it is positioned as one of the best value for money if you want to build a machine mainly oriented Gaming . This 12th generation of Intel CPU is a great success and this 12100F here is the perfect example.
If on paper this new model with 4 Cores and 8 Threads seems less impressive than a 10400F for example, the results in use demonstrate excellent performance, whether for office tasks or for gaming. particularly affordable, it indeed surpasses the Ryzen 7 3700X and follows models such as the Intel Core i5-10600K and 11600K when gaming.
Note that in this “F” version, the 12100F does not include a graphics chip and it will not be possible to use the HDMI or DisplayPort ports on your motherboard. A graphics card is mandatory here.
Also, the processor comes with a cooler in its box, but we recommend investing in a more efficient model to ensure controlled temperatures and enjoy a quieter PC.
Gigabyte B660M DS3H DDR4 Motherboard
These new 12th generation Intel processors come with a new LGA1700 socket and therefore require moving towards the latest generation motherboards. Our CPU not being unlocked, a model with the B660 chipset will do the trick here.
The first models start at around 120€, with in particular the Gigabyte B660M DS3H DDR4 which will accompany our configuration of the day. In mATX format, it has a fairly basic design but is perfectly capable of meeting our current and future needs.
The card includes 4 DDR4 memory slots, 2 PCIe 4.0 M.2 ports, 4 SATA connectors or a PCI Express 4.0 16x. Enough to ensure perfect compatibility with the latest generation SSDs and GPUs. On the performance side, the 6+2+1 phase VRM is more than sufficient for the 12100F and remains capable of ensuring good power supply on more powerful processors.
At the rear, the connection is not impressive, but there are still 6 USB ports, one of which is USB-C. No WiFi/Bluetooth connection on this version, but if you have a little more budget you can go for the AX model for around 20-30€ more .
Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM (2×8 GB @ 3200 Mhz)
With our B660 chipset motherboard, here we can take full advantage of a DDR4 kit with good frequencies and we therefore opt for 2 x 8 GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX at 3200 Mhz.
Available around 70€, this kit has one of the best quality/price ratios today, but it will have to be done with a fairly basic design. The performances are on their side well at the rendezvous and allow to take full advantage of the i3-12100F during gaming.
Do not hesitate to consult the prices of the other kits, they change regularly and it is sometimes possible to find bars at 3600 Mhz or with RGB lighting at fairly similar prices.
Radeon RX 6500 XT Graphics Card
If you do not want to go to the second-hand market, it is still possible to acquire a new graphics card for this PC Gamer configuration at 800€.
In this price range, the only accessible reference is the recent RX 6500 XT , which can be found around 230€. If we are still far from its base price of around €200, unfortunately we have no other choice with current stocks.
The 6500 XT is an entry-level card, targeting 1080p gaming. In this resolution, it is able to run most titles at 60 FPS by playing with the different graphics settings. Nothing to splurge on, but we can at least take advantage of the latest titles on the market.
Please note, to take full advantage of the performance of the 6500 XT, we recommend installing it on a PCIe 4.0 port. No issues here with our B560 motherboard and 12th Gen CPU, but it’s worth noting. Alternative
980 – 500 GB SSD
For storage, it’s up to you to see according to your own needs. For a solid base, we opt for an M.2 SSD with a 500 GB Samsung 980 . At 60€, it is one of the best quality/price ratios in the sector.
PCIe 3.0 compatible, it displays excellent speeds with reading at 3100 MB/s and writing at 2600 MB/s. What you need to enjoy a responsive PC and reduced loading times when gaming.
Obviously, 500 GB can quickly be limiting depending on your use and the size of your toy library. If you need more space, you can for example opt for a SATA SSD with more limited space and accompany it with a 1 TB HDD where you will store your various games.
Noctua NH-U12S Redux cooling
To ensure good cooling for our Intel Core i3-12100F, we decided here to replace the original cooler with a Noctua NH-U12S Redux model .
A “clean” version of the famous NH-U12S, this Redux version offers very similar performance at a slightly more affordable price of around €50. Capable of standing up to the most powerful CPUs, it will also allow us to take advantage of perfectly controlled temperatures but also of a particularly silent machine.
If you have a slightly tighter budget, you can also go for models around 25-30€ like the Deep Cool GAMAXX GTE V2 or the BeQuiet! Pure Rock Slim 2 for example.
Corsair CV650 power supply
A 650W power supply is still sufficient for our configuration of the day. In particular, you can go with the Corsair CV650 model , offered at around 60€ and with an 80 PLUS Bronze certification.
If you want more headroom, modular cables, or better performance, the Corsair TX650M lets you take it to the next level. At around 90€, it benefits from a greater power of 650W to upgrade your components, but also from a semi-modular design and 80 PLUS Gold certification.
To see according to your budget and if you imagine to evolve more or less quickly your PC Gamer to 800€.
MAG Forge 100M case
The choice of the box will have to be made according to your preferences and your budget. Be careful here, however, not to favor design too much over cooling performance.
Available at around €60, the MSI MAG Forme 100M , in our opinion, displays an ideal compromise with a neat design and efficient cooling thanks to its perforated front panel and its two 120 mm RGB fans.
We appreciate the presence of a cover for the power supply and the cables lying around as well as the possibility of installing a 240 mm watercooling if you wish. The tempered glass panel allows you to showcase your components and take advantage of any additional RGB lighting.
