Recently, the desire to study overseas has witnessed a significant surge among Nepali students. The numbers from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST) offer compelling evidence of this growing trend. The Ministry is handling over 600 applications every day from students seeking the No Objection Certificate (NOC) required to pursue higher education abroad.
A vast majority of these applications are from students intending to study in countries such as Australia, Japan, Canada, and the USA, as reported by the department responsible for issuing the NOC. On a single day last Thursday, of the 609 applications submitted, 529 were successfully processed, and those students will receive their NOCs today, disclosed Basudev Wasti, the Under-Secretary of the department.
The MoEST revealed that more than 80,000 students have secured the NOC from July 17, marking the start of the fiscal year 2022/23, up to April 5. Keeping pace with the escalating demand and to streamline the application process, the department initiated an online service. Applicants’ information is promptly verified, and the NOC is issued on the following day.
This digital transformation has noticeably mitigated the lengthy queues in the department’s offices, making service delivery more efficient and expedited. The department notes a significant improvement in service delivery speed and customer satisfaction following the launch of their online NOC application service.
