On Jan. 15, Jamea Harris was shot and killed near the University of Alabama’s campus. Former Alabama player Darius Miles and another man, Michael Davis, have been charged with capital murder for the shooting.

At a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, police testified that Miles sent Miller a text message to bring him a gun for the shooting. Police say Miller’s car was hit twice by gunfire during the shooting.

The Tuscaloosa police chief told Al.com that Miller isn’t facing charges because “there’s nothing we could charge him with according to the law.” However, questions remain as to why Miller was involved in the incident and why he brought Miles the gun.

Alabama coach Nate Oats has said that the team was aware of Miller’s alleged involvement since the shooting and has cooperated with police. Oats also said that while the situation is unfortunate, Miller has not been in any trouble and was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The shooting has raised questions about college athletes and their potential involvement in illegal activities. It has also sparked a discussion about whether college coaches and athletic departments should do more to protect their players from such incidents.

Miller is projected to be a likely lottery pick in the 2023 NBA draft. His future in the NBA could be in jeopardy if he is found to be involved in any criminal activity.
