Tycoon Jack Ma from China is in town
The founder of the technology giant Alibaba, Jack Ma, who was once the richest businessman in China, arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday in the late afternoon.
The business tycoon arrived at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport at 2:30 pm on a special flight, according to Director General of the Department of Immigration Jhalakram Adhikari.
With a net worth of $34.5 billion as of June 2023, Ma is the 39th richest person in the world and the fourth wealthiest person in China, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index. Daraz, a well-known e-commerce site in South and East Asia, was purchased by Ma’s Alibaba about five years ago.
According to a senior government official, very few people were aware of his visit. The official declared, “There would be no reason not to welcome him when such a wealthy man seeks to visit Nepal. The civil aviation authority had to give Ma permission before his flight.
According to CAAN Information Officer Gyanendra Bhul, Ma was accompanied by six crew members on his flight from Bangladesh to Nepal.
